Walking On Water

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING! The sign shows ski tracks in red and there's one that circles around the frozen lake as well. The pictures will show how beautiful this area is and how wonderful the weather was:

Looking like a natural.

A real natural.

Blue skies.

Taking a break about halfway around the lake. The man behind me is walking on the lake.

The lake is straight ahead

Lightning speed double-poler

Downtown and headed for a St. Paddy's green brewskie

"Not there yet," says the hoodie-man.

G'day bartender! ..."We'll take one of your largest green beers!"

Joda parks his bmw here.

Neighboorhood pix

Another day of skiing and we (Niklas and his dad) met Grandma Svea (middle) for some "bear berry juice" aka warm huckleberry juice. Niklas' dad also brought chocolate :)

Pix of Niklas' car. We sold it online in a matter of hours...with a small profit to boot!

Headed to my first ice fishing competition. It's located on the same lake that is posted earlier:

Niklas reassuring me for the 20th time that it's safe to walk on the frozen lake.

So far so good!

Look at all the competitors!

Swedes love the sun :)

Even the doggies get to participate.

Lots of Sundvallians are out.

Cookin' up some hotdogs and hamburgers!

I need to pick up one of these sleighs...

One of the tastiest hotdogs EVER.

After witnessing ice fishing from afar, I stated my eagerness to give it a try. Svea did not hesitate to make the necessary arrangements and the next day we were back on the lake:

The master at her craft: Svea Hoglund. There are at least 40 years in the tip of that little ice fishing pole!

The apprentice: Lauren Elaine. Taking notes.

Master in the making: Niklas Eriksson.

Gma Svea instructs us to try out different holes from time to time because, "that's what the pros do."

I prefer the laid back approach. Small downhill slope behind me.

Fika time! Svea is so hardcore that she is washing her hands in the frozen lake water to prepare for serving lunch. Awesome.

Maybe the camera scared away the fishies. Don't worry little fishies...I'll be back.

Cross country for the 3rd time and it wasn't "a charm" but was actually my first series off falls! Conditions were a bit more icy and we used a different track with more slopes. Still had a blast though, as this track is on Sundvall's highest mountain that has an incredible view of the Gulf of Bothnia and the city.

Bright and beautiful out!
